Technical & Safety
The Technical & Safety Committee (TASC) co-ordinates the technical and safety activities of HKALPA, and represents HKALPA interests to IFALPA and other organisations. The Committee monitors and acts on matters that could affect pilots in the safe execution of their professional duties.
TASC is comprised of pilot volunteers, who contributes their time and expertise to the research, debate and promotion of all facets of aviation safety. The members of TASC act on behalf of HKALPA members in the area such as, but not limited to:
- Accident and Incidents Prevention
- Aircraft Design and Operation
- Air Traffic Services
- Human Factors
Several members of TASC are qualified IFALPA Accredited Accident Investigators and have engaged with the Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong with an aim of achieving HKALPA's participation in aircraft accident investigations in Hong Kong.
In order to actively promote air safety, both in relation to the operation of aircraft and generally, members of TASC are appointed to many local aviation working groups. The following is a sample list of groups to which actively contributes:
- Airport Operation Safety Committee
- Airport Visual Aid Working Group
- CAD CNS/ATM Committee
- Windshear and Turbulence Warning System Working Group
- Liaison Group on Aviation Meteorological System
- AA Users Working Group on Airport Infrastructure Planning and Development
TASC are also tasked with the running of the HKALPA Accident Reaction plan, which is a 24 Hour monitoring system to provide support to members of HKALPA and affiliated overseas pilots in the event of an accident or incident.
